November 14, 2009
Well, the kids stayed for supper. My daughter shopped for 2 hours, and then after supper we visited till about 8:30 pm – and by that time was, as usual, brain dead! So I went to sleep by 9 pm, and woke up this morning, as usual, to my internal alarm clock, at 5:30 almost on the dot! So I am just going to check my email and fb quickly, do my reading, and then write about Ruth till hubby gets home. Of course then I will have to take a break, but maybe I’ll have the rest of the day to really work at the NaNoWriMo! We’ll see! (The Christmas gifts/ stocking stuffers are still sitting under a sheet on the living room floor right where I put them almost 24 hours ago, lol!)
I do think I can do 2 days worth of NaNoWriMo today, which would catch me up! Lord?? – Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit?!! – YOUR will be done! Thank You! J
… later…. Yikes! I just finished my “quick” email and fb check – and it took 45 minutes…. I love the new fb lite… you get all the comments (without the game reports, etc)… but that can take a lot of time to look through – though I love hearing what people are up to (thought I should be turning that into prayers, too, eh….) Oh Papa, what should I do about this????
Another thing that took time was an article that someone sent by email… a speech by a European guy about the rise of Islam in Europe. Almost 25% of the European population practices Islam, he said… and complete Islamization of the continent is predicted by the end of the centure if not sooner… and so on and so forth. In some ways a very scary article… but not “fanatical” – it is presented in a very factual and carefully considered way. Of course, very UN-PC though! I am always amazed, when I read things like that, at how much I’ve “bought into” the whole PC thing – or at least bought into being careful not to get in trouble myself (or for those around me) by being too Un-PC. I certainly had that reaction yesterday, too, when I read a speech by the new Australian PM, who, like his predecessor, Prime Minister Brown, had the guts – or temerity, depending on how one looks at it – to stand up and tell immigrants to either accept Australian ways, or go home (or go elsewhere where they can change things to suit them… [like Canada, I suppose, hmmmm]). I think the thing that really irked me about that speech was the “We were here first, we built this nation” attitude – which totally ignores the fact of the indigenous population and what the original “settlers” did to the aboriginal people when they arrived: a much more violent, determined, planned-out, self-righteous “getting their own way” than the new immigrants whom they are now so hostile toward! Hmmm… history repeating itself… a very unfortunate, but very human, tendency… Yes, Father, there really is only one way to change: relationship with You through Your Son, led by Your Spirit. YOUR LOVE…
Well, it’s time to make breakfast already and I haven’t read or started my NaNoWriMo writing yet! That’s okay, though… You’ve already been speaking to me, haven’t You?! Yes!
… still later… Made scones for breakfast. Dishes. Tidy bedroom. Sort recyclables – read to take to the bins. Visit with hubby when he got home from work. Etc etc… Finally – time to read… and then write! PS: The sun is shining! Beautiful outside, though quite cold!
… about 3 hours later! …
Well, I’ve did my daily Bible reading, and now I’ve been writing for about 2 ¼ hours… and have finally finished that last verse of chapter one of Ruth! My word count is now 11,495! That means that I have just written 2,649 words – which is just 883 words per hour. Yikes! This is more of a challenge than I expected! Still the verse in Ruth 1:22 is only 29 words, so I’ve “imagined” almost 100 words for every word in the verse! The next part should be easier, because a lot more detail is provided in the Biblical book of Ruth itself!
On the other hand, this being day 6 of 2,272 words per day to get to 50,000 words by the end of the month, by the end of today I should be at 13,632 words, so I still have 2137 words to go! Well, lol, that is less that a full day’s word count – barely! Time to take a break, though, and go out and enjoy the sunshine. I’ll take the garbage and recyclables to the bins, and then will walk up to the grocery store. And hopefully come back to finally get “caught up!”
(Well, one more cheerful though is that I’m now more than 20% done, lol!)
…4:30 pm already!)
Oh me, oh my! So I went to the store and had a nice long walk in the process (took my granny buggy to pack the groceries!). I got home, made some late lunch – and was just about to start writing again when BD arrived. Well, he sat down and we had a nice long visit – and he left just now! Hubby will no doubt be up in a half hour or so. I wonder if I have time to write a bit more? The next part should be a little easier…
… 6:20 p… Well, my hubby got up at 5 oclock and I had to stop and make supper. But I did manage to get some writing done, nonetheless, and so I am now up to 12, 685 words, and since I’m aiming for 13,632 words by bedtime, I have only 947 words to go. Yay! It is a lot easier, now that I’m into the more detailed part of the book of Ruth… On the other hand, the 1190 words I wrote before supper do only cover up to the middle of verse 7 of chapter 2 – 179 words (lol – I can’t believe I just sat here and counted them! I’m getting crazy!). So I still wrote 6 words for every work in the original story: still doing lots of novel-izing, therefore! Anyway, I better get back to it!
…7:50 pm. Word check: 14,561! Yes! I’ve caught up – and even written a few extra words! Yay! And I’ve finished chapter 2 in the Book of Ruth. Just 2 chapters to go! Yippee! J And I’m 29% done on my NaNoWriMo!! Yeehaw!!!
(and now it is 8:40 pm, and I’ve just finished typing us these ridiculous blog notes, lol! Time to post them up, do one last fb and email check, and hit the sack! My brain is exhausted!
