My NaNoWriMo 2009 is finally getting going! Yay!

November 13, 2009 – again! – later!

I have the TV on (but the sound muted).  I find being alone at home, after so many years of having a busy, happy family around me, is hard to take.  (Of course, hubby is asleep upstairs, and my son is heading to work… it does seem so quiet.  It’s the same at work – I love it when someone drops by or even just phones!  I was talking to hubby this morning again about restarting the Sunday soup thing… or some alternative version of it… but again he said, “Not yet.”  Well, Your timing is always best…

So I did my reading, made pancakes for my son, did dishes and laundry, and then tuned the TV to a “folk roots” music channel … nice music and no pictures to distract me!  Yay!  It’ still windy and gray outside, but not snowing.  The snow did not stick down here in the valley, but there is snow on the hillsides. J

I’m going to type up my journal notes to post sometime today, then will read the book of Ruth in the Bible, and then work on my NaNoWriMo – as soon as the laundry is done: I can’t focus on story-writing when the laundry machines are going.

… later… So I had a nice phone chat with one of my daughters; and then my son left for work.  And I’ve typed up my blog notes to date.  Skipped some of what I’ve hand written – and added other parts I didn’t handwrite.  That’s unusual for me, but it’s okay.  I’ll probably be doing more of that; it will help me keep my blogging up to date, eh!

…. Later still…

Good grief!  Still not NaNoWriMo-ing!  But I folded laundry, posted on my blogs, and did a quick fb and email check.  And now – finally! – I’m going to read the rest of Ruth and start writing!  Yay!  Beginning word count: 5312.  (ha! See I DID write yesterday after all: 20 words, lol!).

… later again…  Well, I was typing away, and then I got a call from the Purolator guy who was trying to deliver a parcel to my workplace, and no one was there – and I had, in a spacey moment put my phone number on the bulletin board poster of the church contact information, instead of the church’s number!  So I had to go and get the parcel.  Then, since I was out, I went to the store and got some pain meds for hubby, since he’d asked me to do that today.  Finally I got home, got a snack, and here I am!  The word count on my NaNoWriMo Naomi/Ruth story is now 8834 words – and I have just reached the end of chapter 1 of the Biblical Book of Ruth which is the basis for this historical fiction (except for the last verse in the chapter, which I haven’t yet covered).  So let’s see: I wrote 3534 words in about 2 ½ hours of writing today.  Hmmm… I started writing on November 9, and now it’s the 13th (I started a different story on the 1st of the month, but it just wouldn’t “go” … and I got discouraged… and didn’t get started again till the 9th, so now I have to write an average of 2,272 words a day to reach 50,000 by the end of the month!).  I should be at 11,360 words at the end of today, after 5 days of writing.  Ha!  Well, I have only 2,514 to go before bedtime – so now I’m just a bit over one day behind in my 3 week NaNoWriMo novel!  My daughter just phoned to say they are coming over.  She’s going to go shopping while I watch my grandson, and her hubby tries out my son’s new video game.  There goes my writing plans, lol!
