Besides the blog itself, which features all the information you need when considering tutoring services, as well as lots of blog posts on home learning, and writing and editing, you will also find specific pages related to my business activities, and key information about each of my sites. Please look at the various pages, and be sure to check out the sites that interest you. And subscribe, of course, to those that catch your attention. You’ll also want to check out my new author site, normajhill.com, which from now on will be the focus site for posts on writing, editing, and publishing. And you’ll also want to check out an introduction and links to my various other sites. Thanks!
I love writing and editing, and besides my websites and blogs, I hang out on Facebook, Twitter, Google +, LinkedIn, and other social networks. I have also worked freelance for radio, have been a newspaper columnist, have published and/or edited various newsletters, and have been published in magazines. I have taught and tutored English. I also edit a wide variety of manuscripts and other writing formats for other writers, and help writers determine their personal publishing path (traditional, self-publishing, or hybrid) and get them started on that exciting journey.
So what about me personally?
My favorite life activity is being a wife, mom of 5, and naanni (grandmother) of 9. I am also enamoured with the adventure of lifelong learning, both formal and informal.
I have a BEd (Secondary: Social Studies/Geography and Teacher Librarianship) from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada), and a Diploma in Academic Arts from Okanagan College (Kelowna, Canada). I have taught in those subject areas, and have also taught (in both public and independent/Christian schools) other subjects including Home Economics, Core French, and English. I have also been a teacher-on-call at elementary and secondary levels in numerous subject areas. I have homeschooled all elementary and secondary grades, and tutored at elementary, secondary and post-secondary levels, including special needs and ESL learners.
Beyond the field of education, I have also been a writer, editor, executive secretary, orchardist, home-based business owner (party planning, and secretarial/bookkeeping in the past, and now tutoring, editing and writing), direct sales person, custodian, apartment manager, bed and breakfast operator, waitress, and have been involved in countless other adventures, both employment-wise and volunteer.
I am a Jesus-follower, and you will find that this worldview definitely is reflected in my writing, but I enjoy examining and discussing other viewpoints as well, so feel free to share yours! Some of my favorite topics are the church, family stories, education, writing and publishing, editing, my community (Penticton BC Canada) and Haida Gwaii (the people, and the islands!).
I’d love to hear from you, in the comments of my various blogs and website, or you can contact me directly by email..
